About this role
Upstream Rehabilitation's Journey program offers physical therapists a structured approach to travel work without the typical instability of contract agencies. You'll rotate through assignments—typically 13 weeks, with flexibility for 6- or 12-month stretches—across Upstream's 1,200+ outpatient clinics in 28 states, working under established regional brands like BenchMark, Results, and Drayer. The role centers on developing evidence-based care plans, delivering outcomes-driven orthopedic therapy, and collaborating with local clinical teams in new communities.
What distinguishes this from traditional travel PT positions is the employment model: you remain a full-time employee of Upstream between assignments, maintaining continuous health insurance coverage and paid time off even during transitions. You'll work within a single standardized EMR and documentation system across all clinics, eliminating the learning curve that typically accompanies each new facility. The compensation package includes a $120,000–$145,000 annual salary, non-taxed housing stipend, travel reimbursement, tiered bonuses, and student loan repayment opportunities, plus standard benefits including 401(k) matching and continuing education support.
This role suits licensed PTs who want geographic flexibility and new clinical environments without sacrificing employer stability, benefits continuity, or career growth pathways. If you value both adventure and security—and prefer working within one cohesive system rather than navigating multiple organizations—this structure removes many friction points of traditional travel therapy.
