About this role

TEGNA's 12News in Phoenix is seeking a photojournalist for a temporary, in-office role that blends visual storytelling with multimedia production. You'll shoot and edit content across television, digital platforms, and social media—working with tools like Edius and Adobe Creative Suite to turn breaking news, features, investigations, and sports into compelling stories. The work spans live newsgathering, multi-camera interviews, source development, and contributing story ideas in editorial meetings, with occasional on-air appearances.

The role suits someone with two to five years of photojournalism experience and a degree in journalism, communications, or a related field. You'll need solid technical skills in non-linear editing and creative production, along with the news judgment and deadline discipline that local broadcast journalism demands. Prior experience with SNG, ENG coordination, or live center work is valued but not required. This is a hands-on position for a journalist who can work independently or as part of a team to produce original, emotionally resonant content.

TEGNA offers comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage through Blue Cross Blue Shield; a 401(k) with immediate company match on contributions up to 4%; mental health support through Spring Health; and generous PTO plus nine paid holidays annually. Note that some newsroom positions are covered by union agreements, which may affect specific benefits.
