Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems for data center projects. This role requires a deep understanding of electrical engineering principles, data center infrastructure, and the ability to manage complex projects from concept to completion.
- Design electrical systems for data centers, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, and backup power systems.
- Develop detailed electrical schematics, diagrams, and layouts using CAD software.
- Ensure designs meet industry standards, regulations, and client requirements.
- Lead electrical design projects from initial concept through to final completion.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, mechanical engineers, and project managers.
- Prepare and manage project schedules, budgets, and resources.
- Conduct site surveys and assessments to gather project requirements and constraints.
- Perform load calculations, short circuit analysis, and coordination studies.
- Specify and select electrical equipment and components.
- Conduct design reviews and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
- Ensure all designs are tested and validated to meet performance and safety standards.
- Prepare and maintain documentation, including design reports, specifications, and as-built drawings.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- 8+ years of experience in electrical design engineering, with a focus on data center projects.
- Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP).
- Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEC).
- Experience with power distribution systems, UPS, generators, and switchgear.
About this role
DataVolt is seeking an Electrical Manager to lead the design and delivery of electrical infrastructure for data center projects across their Mumbai operations. You'll own the full lifecycle of electrical systems—from initial site assessment and load calculations through detailed CAD design, equipment specification, and final validation. This means working with power distribution, backup systems, grounding, and lighting while ensuring every design meets NEC, IEC, and client requirements. You'll also conduct short circuit and coordination studies, prepare technical documentation, and guide junior engineers through design reviews.
The role demands eight or more years in electrical design engineering with a specific track record on data center projects. You'll need fluency in design tools like AutoCAD, Revit, or ETAP, plus solid grounding in electrical codes and hands-on knowledge of UPS systems, generators, and switchgear. A Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering is required; a Master's is preferred. Beyond technical depth, you'll coordinate across architects, mechanical engineers, and project managers, manage schedules and budgets, and take responsibility for translating complex requirements into reliable, compliant designs.
This is an in-office role in Mumbai, suited to an experienced electrical engineer ready to step into leadership on substantial infrastructure projects for a global data center company.
