About this role
Enova International's Legal team is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to lead transactional work across the company's US, Brazil, and Mexico operations. This role centers on contract strategy and execution—drafting, negotiating, and advising on commercial, financial services, and technology agreements that span partnerships, vendor relationships, licensing, and professional services. You'd serve as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders, translating legal risk into practical recommendations while maintaining the speed Enova needs to operate effectively. The position also includes modernizing the contract lifecycle management program with AI tools and automated workflows, working with the paralegal team on administrative matters, and gaining exposure to M&A, capital markets, and employment law as needed.
The ideal candidate holds a JD with active bar membership and brings at least five years of transactional experience from a law firm or in-house department. You should be skilled at contract analysis, comfortable managing high-volume work under tight timelines, and able to work both independently and cross-functionally. Financial services or regulated industry background is preferred. Critically, this role values AI fluency—you'll need genuine comfort using AI-powered tools to enhance legal work and operational efficiency, not just willingness to learn them.
Reporting to the Senior Associate General Counsel, you'll work hybrid (in-office Tuesday–Thursday) in Chicago. The salary range is $122,000–$165,000, with bonus and restricted stock units as additional compensation. Enova offers standard benefits including health coverage, 401(k) matching, PTO, paid parental leave, and a sabbatical program for eligible roles.
