About this role

ALTEN Technology USA is seeking a Lead Automotive Embedded Software Engineer to own the full lifecycle of embedded software development for automotive seating, comfort, actuator, motor, and interior systems. You'll move from requirements analysis and architecture design through coding, integration, testing, and production launch, working hands-on with Embedded C while guiding a software team. This role demands someone with at least 10 years of automotive embedded software experience who can drive technical decisions independently, communicate clearly across hardware, systems, validation, and manufacturing teams, and maintain deep involvement in development activities rather than stepping back into pure management.

The position requires strong expertise in low-level drivers, middleware, and application software development, along with proven experience in CAN/LIN protocols, software build and release processes, and automotive OEM or Tier 1 supplier environments. You'll use requirements management tools like Codebeamer to maintain traceability, develop robust architecture documentation, and ensure software meets performance, quality, and reliability objectives throughout product development. Experience with functional safety standards, RTOS, or APQP is valued but not required.

This is a full-time, in-office role in Detroit, Michigan. It suits an engineer who thrives on technical ownership, enjoys solving complex automotive challenges, and wants to lead while staying actively engaged in the engineering work itself.
