About this role
IXL Learning is looking for someone to bridge the gap between their personalized learning platform and the educators using it in classrooms. As a Professional Learning Specialist based in Chicago, you'd spend your time training teachers and district leaders on implementing IXL effectively—running webinars, hosting regional events, and traveling to schools for in-person professional development sessions. You'd be part product expert, part educator advocate, working with teachers across different grade levels and subjects to translate IXL's capabilities into practical classroom strategies.
The role demands someone with substantial classroom experience—at least five years of K-12 teaching, ideally with some leadership background—who genuinely enjoys presenting and connecting with people. You'll need to juggle multiple projects at once, from collaborating with sales teams on pilot programs to coordinating with the events team on IXL Live sessions. Travel is significant during back-to-school season (up to 60%) and moderate the rest of the year, so proximity to a major airport is essential. Strong communication skills, comfort with Google Apps and Zoom, and a collaborative, upbeat demeanor are non-negotiable.
The position offers a salary of $72,000 to $85,000 plus standard benefits including health insurance, 401k matching, and paid leave. This is a full-time, in-office role in the Chicago metro area.
