About this role

CaptiveAire is seeking an experienced commercial HVAC technician for its Boise service territory. You'll handle the full spectrum of work on commercial kitchen ventilation and HVAC systems—from commissioning new CaptiveAire equipment and diagnosing complex mechanical issues to performing preventive maintenance and repairs. The role demands strong technical skills in electrical systems, refrigeration cycles, and the ability to read schematics and blueprints. You'll also interact regularly with facility managers and property owners to explain system status and maintenance needs, so clear communication matters as much as hands-on competence.

The position requires a minimum of two years servicing commercial HVAC systems, a valid driver's license with a clean record, and EPA Universal Certification (OSHA 10 is suggested). You'll need to be comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and lifting up to 50 pounds in varied weather. New hires attend a one-week training course at the company's R&D facility in Pennsylvania, which involves travel. Safety is emphasized throughout—this is a safety-sensitive role with strict EPA compliance requirements.

The compensation ranges from $55,000 to $75,000 annually based on experience, plus monthly productivity and profit bonuses and overtime potential. You'll receive a $2,000 signing bonus. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage; 401(k) with employer match; nine paid holidays and PTO; a company vehicle with gas card and tools; and safety equipment provided. CaptiveAire has been in business over 40 years and emphasizes continuous employee development and a strong safety culture.
