About this role

Esri's Map Viewer is the entry point for many users exploring location-based data and spatial analysis, and this senior designer role shapes how they interact with that experience. You'd work within a UX/UI team to design end-to-end mapping workflows, moving from user research and personas through wireframes, prototypes, and visual design. The position requires close collaboration with developers, product managers, and SDK engineers to both refine current features and build front-end capabilities that support future versions of the product.

The role calls for at least five years designing enterprise SaaS or web applications, with demonstrated proficiency in Figma, design systems, and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.0/Section 508). You should have hands-on experience conducting user research and usability testing, and ideally some familiarity with geospatial or map-based UI design. Beyond execution, you'd mentor peers through design critiques, lead process improvements, and communicate design rationale across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

This is an in-office position in Portland, Oregon, with a base salary range of $112,320 to $176,592. Esri offers comprehensive health benefits, 401(k) and profit-sharing programs, a minimum of 80 vacation hours annually, and twelve paid holidays. A bachelor's degree in human factors, HCI, graphic design, or a related field is required; a master's degree is preferred.
