Description
Company Overview:
Strand Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biotechnology company pioneering programmable mRNA therapeutics to unlock the full potential of genetic medicines. Strand is applying its proprietary Signal Stack platform, which integrates EverScript circular RNA, AmpliScript self-replicating RNA, SignalPath targeted delivery, and logic-driven SignalLock genetic circuits to enable precise control of therapeutic activity across tissues and cell types and overcome foundational limitations in targeting, durability, and safety.
Strand is advancing a pipeline with an initial focus on oncology and autoimmune disease. Its initial program, STX-001, an intratumorally delivered LNP-encapsulated self-replicating RNA expressing IL-12, has demonstrated preliminary evidence of systemic immune activation and anti-tumor activity in patients with advanced solid tumors who have progressed on prior therapies. Building on this early clinical validation, intravenously delivered STX-003 is designed for tumor-targeted expression and avoidance of off-target expression. STX-003, which is expected to enter the clinic in mid-2026, has the potential to be a major step forward for the fields of genetic medicine and oncology. Strand is also advancing STX-005, an in vivo CAR-T program designed to enable controlled, durable expression and repeat dosing. Founded by MIT synthetic biology pioneers, Strand has raised over $250 million and is headquartered in Boston, MA.

About this role
Strand Therapeutics is building its regulatory function from the ground up, and this role offers the chance to shape how a clinical-stage mRNA company engages with the FDA, EMA, TGA, and other global health authorities. As Senior Vice President of Regulatory Sciences, you would report directly to the President and Co-Founder, leading the entire regulatory sciences team—including global strategy, CMC, operations, and vendor management—while serving as the company's primary voice in all health authority interactions. This is a visible leadership position at the intersection of science and strategy, where your decisions directly influence the pace at which Strand's pipeline advances from the clinic into patients.
The role demands deep regulatory expertise built over 20+ years in biotech or pharma, with a proven track record navigating INDs, BLAs, and global submissions—ideally including experience with expedited pathways like RMAT or Breakthrough Therapy designations. Oncology experience is essential; background in gene or cell therapies is highly valued. You would partner closely with R&D, Clinical, and Technical Operations to ensure regulatory readiness, drive innovation in development timelines, and contribute to portfolio strategy and risk management alongside senior leadership. The position requires comfort operating in ambiguity, moving quickly, and wearing multiple hats—hallmarks of early-stage biotech.
Strand, founded by MIT synthetic biology pioneers and backed by over $250 million in funding, offers a competitive salary of $365,000–$410,000 plus bonus and equity, along with comprehensive benefits and work flexibility. This is an in-office role in Boston suited to a leader who thrives in small, highly productive teams and wants to influence the trajectory of a platform-based therapeutic company from its early clinical stage.
