About the Position
The Digital Communications Specialist supports a U.S. Government Agency. The Specialist operates within the Agency’s external communications function, which serves as the primary interface with the public and key stakeholders, including Congressional audiences.
In this role, the Specialist executes day-to-day digital communications across social media, web, and email platforms. The position focuses on content creation, campaign execution, performance monitoring, and digital engagement, while ensuring consistency with the Agency’s brand, messaging, and public transparency requirements.
This job is onsite 5 days per week with no exceptions for telework.
Responsibilities
- Develop, write, and schedule engaging social media content aligned to brand voice and campaign goals.
- Support the planning and execution of integrated social media campaigns, including content calendars, asset coordination, and approvals.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to translate communications objectives into platform-appropriate messaging and content formats.
- Monitor social media channels daily for comments, messages, and
- Conduct social listening and trend monitoring to identify opportunities, risks, and emerging conversations relevant to the organization.
- Track and report on social media performance, providing insights and recommendations to optimize future content.
- Maintain and update website content within the Content Management System (CMS), including basic page edits, posting news updates, and ensuring content accuracy and consistency.
- Support website content governance by checking links, formatting, accessibility basics, and adherence to brand and editorial standards.
- Assist in building and deploying email marketing campaigns, including drafting copy, assembling templates, and segmenting lists as directed.
- Monitor email performance metrics and summarize results with suggested improvements for subject lines, content, and timing.
- Coordinate with design, video, and other partners to request and manage creative assets, ensuring deadlines and specs are met across channels.
- Maintain organized documentation (content calendars, campaign briefs, reporting dashboards, and standard operating procedures) to support efficient execution.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, English, communications, or related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in media relations, preferably in a communications or journalism role.
- Excellent grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The contractor shall be a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance or higher.
