About this role

At The Trade Desk, this Senior Software Engineer role focuses on building and improving the internal platforms and infrastructure that enable the company's engineering teams to work more effectively. You'd design scalable components, optimize existing systems to reduce developer friction, and lead technical initiatives that span multiple services and teams. The work involves owning shared libraries and SDKs, conducting design and code reviews for high-impact systems, and using operational data to drive architectural decisions—essentially serving as a technical leader who shapes how the broader engineering organization builds and deploys software.

The role requires six years of software engineering experience (or four years with a master's degree) and specific technical depth: four years working with REST APIs or gRPC, a primary language like Python or Java, relational databases and SQL, AWS, Kubernetes and Docker, and object storage solutions. You'll also need two years of experience with monitoring tools like Grafana or Prometheus. This is an in-office position in New York with a salary range of $189,592 to $274,700, plus stock-based compensation, comprehensive healthcare, 401k matching, and generous time off.
