About Goodfire

Goodfire is an AI interpretability research lab. We build interpretability agents and infrastructure to understand, monitor, and align AI models.

We believe that AI is the most consequential technology of our time. Yet AI models are trained by trial and error today, with limited understanding of what drives their behavior. Our goal is to advance the research and technology needed to fully understand and align AI so humanity can trust superintelligence.

Goodfire is a public benefit corporation founded by researchers who helped pioneer the field of interpretability at OpenAI and Google DeepMind. We are headquartered in San Francisco and have raised over $200M from leading investors including Lightspeed, Menlo, and B Capital.

About the role

We’re searching for an Executive Assistant who will support our COO and Principal Investigator-   someone who will make it their mission to protect their time and attention so they can stay focused on the highest-impact work. You’ll own their calendar and inboxes, orchestrate travel and meeting logistics, assist with personal tasks, coordinate internal and external meetings, and partner closely with our Operations team to create an exceptional employee experience.

The work is intense and fast-paced. We’re looking for someone who can keep pace without ever lowering their standards for excellence. No two days will look the same and you’ll face problems that don’t come with a playbook. If you thrive in ambiguity, love bringing order to complexity, and find genuine joy in making helping people and an organization run better, we’d love to hear from you!

Who you are

You care deeply, have an exceptionally high bar for quality, are relentlessly organized, have strong communication skills, and are energized by solving problems. You thrive in high-growth environments where priorities shift quickly, take pride in flawless execution, and treat every challenge, whether rescheduling a board meeting or sourcing last-minute catering, as an opportunity to do valuable and meaningful work. You also understand that strong executive support is built on strong relationships, so you have a desire to invest in earning trust across the organization to become a reliable partner to everyone in the organization.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, early-stage startup environment
  • Prior experience supporting C‑level executives in a venture‑backed startup
  • Comfort negotiating with vendors and managing complex calendars across time zones
  • Demonstrated success planning multi‑day off‑sites or customer events
  • Proficiency with modern productivity tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Notion, Slack

Our values

Put mission and team first

All we do is in service of our mission. We trust each other, deeply care about the success of the organization, and choose to put our team above ourselves.

Improve constantly

We are constantly looking to improve every piece of the business. We proactively critique ourselves and others in a kind and thoughtful way that translates to practical improvements in the organization. We are pragmatic and consistently implement the obvious fixes that work.

Take ownership and initiative

There are no bystanders here. We proactively identify problems and take full responsibility over getting a strong result. We are self-driven, own our mistakes, and feel deep responsibility over what we’re building.

Action today

We have a small amount of time to do something incredibly hard and meaningful. The pace and intensity of the organization is high. If we can take action today or tomorrow, we will choose to do it today.

About this role

Goodfire is an AI interpretability research lab backed by over $200M in funding and founded by researchers from OpenAI and Google DeepMind. This Executive Assistant role supports the COO and Principal Investigator in a San Francisco office, requiring full-time, in-office presence. You'll manage their calendars and inboxes, coordinate travel and logistics, facilitate internal and external meetings, and work closely with the Operations team to support the organization's functioning. The work is intense and unscripted—no two days are the same, and you'll regularly solve problems without a clear precedent.

The ideal candidate is exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, and energized by complexity. You should thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments where priorities shift quickly and bring genuine satisfaction to flawless execution of both high-stakes logistics (board meetings, multi-day offsites) and everyday support. Strong communication, vendor negotiation skills, and proficiency with tools like Google Workspace and Notion are important. Prior experience supporting C-level executives in venture-backed startups, managing complex calendars across time zones, and planning major events is preferred.

This role suits someone who views executive support as relationship-building and problem-solving at the organizational level, not just task management. You'll need to keep pace with a mission-driven team operating at high intensity while maintaining your standards for quality. The salary range is $100,000–$200,000, with equity and competitive benefits included.
