Procurement Specialist
Mullins Mechanical is a leader in industrial and large commercial mechanical, plumbing, HVAC construction projects. Our projects are often in industrial and manufacturing environments, such as manufacturing facilities, automotive plants, chemical plants, distribution centers, warehouses, and other large commercial facilities. We are a self-performing specialty contractor specializing in design-built applications, HVAC systems, plumbing, process piping systems, boiler and chiller systems, equipment installation and rigging, plant relocation and maintenance, and metal fabrication.
Responsibilities:
· Report directly to the Procurement Manager and provide regular updates on procurement status, supplier performance, delivery schedules, and project-related procurement risks.
· Support the Procurement Manager in vendor evaluations, contract negotiations, procurement planning, and strategic sourcing initiatives.
· Escalate procurement issues, supply chain disruptions, and cost concerns to the Procurement Manager for resolution.
· Manage procurement activities for multiple large-scale construction projects simultaneously.
· Source, solicit, evaluate, negotiate pricing with vendors, and suppliers.
· Develop and maintain procurement schedules aligned with project timelines and milestones.
· Issue Requests for Quotations (RFQs), Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and purchase order agreements.
· Coordinate with Project Managers and Project Executives to identify procurement requirements and long-lead items.
· Track material deliveries commitments to ensure adherence to project schedules.
· Monitor procurement budgets and assist project teams in maintaining cost control objectives.
· Analyze vendor pricing, market trends, and supply chain conditions to identify cost-saving opportunities.
· Maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure quality, performance, and reliability.
· Resolve procurement-related issues including delivery delays, material shortages and pricing discrepancies.
· Maintain procurement records, vendor databases, and project documentation.
· Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, contractual requirements, and applicable regulations.
· Assist in developing and improving procurement processes, procedures, and best practices.
· Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications:
· 3+ years of procurement, purchasing, or supply chain experience within industrial construction industry, including support of multimillion-dollar projects.
· Strong understanding of procurement and material management processes, including long-lead equipment purchasing, fabrication scheduling, supplier coordination, contract administration, and cost control.
· Working knowledge of industrial construction systems, including mechanical, plumbing, process piping, and related building systems.
· Understanding of construction materials, fabrication processes, equipment procurement, subcontractor management, and installation requirements associated with mechanical and plumbing scopes of work.
· Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, equipment schedules, submittals, isometric drawings, and contract documents.
· Proficiency with construction, procurement, accounting, ERP, and project management software used for purchasing, project tracking, reporting, and cost management.
· Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
· Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with project teams, vendors, suppliers, fabricators, and subcontractors.
