About this role
Comprehensive Mobile Care is looking for an optometrist to provide vision care across New Mexico's underserved communities on a flexible, part-time basis. You'd work 2–6 weekdays per month (Wednesday through Friday) at established outpatient clinics in locations including Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Farmington, Gallup, Taos, Las Cruces, and Roswell, traveling up to 4 hours between sites. This is a 1099 independent contractor role paying $1,200 per diem, with mileage reimbursement covered.
The role emphasizes clinical work over administrative burden. You'll perform comprehensive eye exams, diagnose and manage ocular conditions, prescribe corrective lenses, and collaborate with full-time clinic staff in a team-based environment. CMC handles all scheduling, billing, equipment, and supplies, so your focus stays on patient care. The model prioritizes quality and consistency rather than high-volume throughput, and the organization specifically serves senior populations within a mission-driven healthcare framework.
This suits an optometrist seeking meaningful work with genuine schedule flexibility and no practice management overhead. You'll need an active New Mexico license, an accredited OD degree, and comfort working in clinic settings with seniors. Experience with senior populations is preferred but not required. There are no nights, weekends, or administrative responsibilities.
