Description
Nimble is an AI robotics company building the autonomous supply chain to power fast, efficient and economical commerce. We’re training robot AGI to power a proprietary generalist supply chain superhumanoid, the first robot in the world capable of performing thousands of tasks across the supply chain. We’ve raised over $220M at over $1B valuation and formed a strategic alliance with FedEx to build a national network of autonomous warehouses capable of generating many billions in annual revenue. We are a hardcore and obsessed team of the world’s best engineers and operators. If you are obsessed with your craft, enjoy a high-intensity and fast moving high impact environment, are super high agency in getting hard things done and want to be part of building the world’s most legendary robotics company at the most pivotal moment in history, we want to work with you.
We are on a mission to empower and inspire mankind to accomplish legendary feats by inventing robots that liberate us from the menial. We will accomplish this by training robot AGI to invent and build the Autonomous Supply Chain – everything from the inside of factories and warehouses to your front door – powered by generalist superhumanoids.
Our founding team comes from the AI labs at Stanford and Carnegie Mellon and our board of directors include famed robotics and AI legends including Fei-Fei Li (Chief Scientist of AI at Google and Director of Stanford’s AI Lab), Marc Raibert (founder of Boston Dynamics), and Sebastian Thrun (founder of GoogleX, Waymo; Stanford Professor and considered the father of autonomous vehicles).
Let’s be legendary.
Role summary
Owns one core HIL regression pillar so the team stops context-switching across all of them. Builds and maintains automated HIL frameworks, dashboards, and CI so component-, module-, and firmware-level validation on the HILs is fast, reliable, and continuous during the V6 push.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the HIL test environment combining physical hardware (ECUs, sensors, motor controllers) with simulated dynamics for stress and fault-injection testing.
- Build and maintain automated test frameworks, reporting, dashboards, and the AI analyzer; keep CI jobs on the HILs green.
- Expand the 30+ module self-tests and improve the associated data pipeline; own regression and smoke test coverage.
- Integrate high-speed DAQ and bus tracing (CAN, I2C, Ethernet) for deep hardware and firmware diagnostics.
- Partner with robot SW and Nimble Health to improve the simulation models used on the HILs.
- Lead physical pick/pack testing: evaluate and optimize SKU pickability, grip reliability, and placement accuracy
Qualifications
- BS or MS in Electrical, Computer, or Robotics Engineering.
- 1-3+ years validating embedded systems, control software, or robotics firmware; HIL experience strongly preferred.
- Strong Python (and Rust or C++) for automated test scripts and analysis; CI/CD experience (e.g., Jenkins).
- Understanding of digital/analog I/O and robotics comms (CAN, Ethernet, USB, Serial); MATLAB/Simulink a plus.
- Comfortable with requirements traceability and defect management.

Benefits
- health insurance
- vision insurance
- 401(k)

About this role
Nimble Robotics is building autonomous supply chain robots and needs someone to own the hardware-in-the-loop testing infrastructure during a critical development phase. You'd be responsible for one core HIL regression pillar, meaning you'd build and maintain the automated test frameworks, dashboards, and CI systems that validate components, modules, and firmware across their robot platform. This involves developing the test environment itself—combining physical hardware like ECUs and motor controllers with simulated dynamics—integrating high-speed diagnostics tools, expanding test coverage across 30+ modules, and partnering with software teams to improve simulation models.
The role demands hands-on expertise in embedded systems validation and robotics firmware, ideally with prior HIL experience. You'll need strong Python skills plus either Rust or C++, CI/CD experience (Jenkins or similar), and familiarity with robotics communication protocols like CAN and Ethernet. An electrical, computer, or robotics engineering degree is expected. Beyond the technical work, you'll also lead physical testing of the robot's pick and pack capabilities—evaluating grip reliability and placement accuracy.
This is an in-office position in San Francisco with a salary range of $130,000 to $170,000 plus equity. It's suited for someone with 1–3+ years of embedded systems or robotics validation experience who wants to work on a high-stakes, fast-moving project at a well-funded company backed by major AI and robotics figures.
