About this role

Bridgetown Veterinary Emergency + Referral's Internal Medicine Department is looking for a Veterinary Assistant to manage laboratory and pharmacy operations in a specialty hospital setting. This is a full-time role working Thursday through Saturday, 9am to 9pm, and centers on two interconnected areas: running in-house diagnostic equipment and managing controlled pharmaceutical inventory. You'd perform routine lab tests like bloodwork and urinalysis, maintain equipment quality controls, coordinate shipments to outside labs, and handle medication preparation and dispensing according to veterinary prescriptions—all while keeping meticulous records in Cubex and other software systems.

The role demands both technical precision and clinical awareness. You'll need to troubleshoot equipment issues, flag critical lab results for immediate veterinarian review, and stay on top of inventory rotation and expiration dates for medications including controlled substances. The position requires at least two years of experience in an emergency or specialty veterinary hospital, comfort with computer systems (Smartflow and EzyVet experience is preferred), and the physical stamina to stand and move for extended shifts while managing multiple tasks simultaneously.

BVER offers a solid benefits package including health insurance with HSA contributions, dental and vision coverage, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and quarterly bonus potential. The role suits someone detail-oriented and reliable who thrives in a fast-paced specialty environment and wants to directly support high-level veterinary care.
