About this role

Leading civil engineering projects across the full development lifecycle—from initial site layout and grading through permitting and construction—this Senior Practice Leader role sits at the intersection of technical delivery and business growth. You'll oversee site and infrastructure design for residential, commercial, institutional, and mixed-use projects while taking an active hand in cultivating client relationships and identifying new business opportunities. The position demands both depth in land development engineering (stormwater management, hydrologic analysis, erosion control) and breadth across related disciplines like geotechnical and environmental work.

This is a role for someone with 16+ years of hands-on civil engineering experience in California who holds a PE license and has proven success managing both complex projects and client relationships. You'll work independently on technical decisions while also mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with office and regional leadership on strategic planning. The work requires strong communication skills—the ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences—alongside meticulous attention to detail and sound judgment under competing priorities.

Langan offers a competitive compensation package ($117,000–$171,000) with comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) matching, professional development reimbursement, and generous paid time off. The firm emphasizes career growth through mentoring programs, extensive training, and a collaborative culture across its 50+ offices nationwide.
