About this role

Hermanson Company's Owner Direct Projects division in Portland is looking for a Project Manager to oversee mechanical construction projects where you'll coordinate not just Hermanson's work but also multiple subcontractors—electrical, structural, controls, and others—to deliver projects directly to owners rather than through general contractors. This requires someone with at least five years of hands-on mechanical construction experience who can manage the full scope from pre-planning through billing, including staffing coordination, equipment selection, budget tracking, and productivity monitoring across concurrent projects.

The role demands strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively with foremen, engineers, customers, and external trades. You'll be responsible for training and developing your team, forecasting workload, identifying productivity issues, and managing change orders and financial reporting. Success here means balancing multiple moving parts while maintaining Hermanson's standards for quality and customer experience. The position offers a salary range of $95,000 to $140,000 depending on experience, along with comprehensive benefits including medical coverage, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and professional development support.

This is a fit for someone with a construction management, business, or engineering background who thrives in a collaborative environment and wants to grow within a well-established mechanical contractor that values both technical competence and strong relationships.
