About this role
Ventura Travel's Africaventura brand is seeking an experienced Tour Conductor to lead small groups (4–10 people) on 2–3 week journeys through South Africa, Namibia, and Botswana. You'll be the face of the company in the field—responsible for group safety, delivering engaging commentary on local flora, fauna, history, and culture, troubleshooting problems as they arise, and ensuring clients experience authentic, sustainable travel. The role requires fluency in German, French, or Dutch to communicate with clients, plus strong English. You must hold a National Tour Guide license and PdP, and be a resident of one of the three countries served.
This position suits someone with deep knowledge of Southern Africa who genuinely enjoys connecting with travelers and representing their country with enthusiasm. You'll manage logistics including cash handling with local partners, monitor service quality from suppliers, and stay flexible when unexpected situations demand creative solutions. The company offers structured training in languages, cultural knowledge, and safety standards, plus a performance-based pay system with opportunities for additional earnings and advancement into operations or coordination roles.
Ventura Travel operates across multiple continents with an international team and emphasizes sustainable, locally-rooted travel. While some experience is preferred, they welcome recent graduates with the right attitude and qualifications. You'll report to the TC Operations Specialist and work from the Johannesburg office base.
