Description
About Pacific Fusion
Pacific Fusion was founded in 2023 with the mission to power the world with abundant, affordable, clean energy.
We are rapidly designing and building a pulser-driven inertial fusion system to achieve net facility gain (more fusion energy output than stored energy input). In parallel, we are developing the key components required to build affordable fusion systems.
Our plans are ambitious. We have raised over $900M so far from incredible investors, resourcing us to deliver on these plans. We are bringing together the best scientists, engineers, and operators from the fusion community, hard tech industry, and other sectors. We are united by a shared sense of urgency to provide clean power for the world, particularly managing climate change while meeting growing global energy demand. You can read more about us in this letter from our founders.

About this role
Pacific Fusion is building a demonstration fusion energy system and needs an Infrastructure Electrical Engineer to manage the electrical backbone of this ambitious facility. You'll own the full lifecycle of facility electrical systems—from requirements and design through construction oversight, commissioning, and ongoing operations. This means collaborating with design firms and contractors during the build phase, then transitioning to hands-on responsibility for maintaining and upgrading the electrical infrastructure that powers the fusion demonstration.
The role demands at least seven years in industrial, manufacturing, or research facility electrical work, with solid grounding in medium/low voltage AC and high voltage DC systems, NEC standards, and commissioning practices. You'll need strong cross-functional communication skills to translate requirements from scientists and engineers into workable electrical designs and operational procedures. A PE license is a plus but not required.
Note the location structure: the role starts in San Leandro, California with up to 25% travel to Los Lunas, New Mexico for the first two years during design and permitting, then relocates to New Mexico in 2028. The salary range is $138,100–$207,100, with equity, 401k matching, and standard benefits. This is a full-time, in-office position at a well-funded startup in the fusion energy sector.
