About this role
DLR Group seeks an experienced specifications writer to lead the technical documentation side of its integrated design practice. You'll develop project manuals that coordinate seamlessly with drawings, working across disciplines to translate design intent into construction-ready documents. This role demands someone who understands building systems, CSI MasterFormat standards, and the nuances of specification writing—someone who sees specs not as a checklist but as a critical quality control tool that prevents claims and ensures buildability.
The position requires at least six years in architecture with a minimum of three in specifications, plus current professional licensure and CDT certification. You'll need hands-on proficiency with Visi-Specs, Revit, and Bluebeam, and familiarity with public project delivery. Beyond the technical toolkit, you'll partner directly with project managers, support construction administration, research new products, mentor less experienced staff, and participate in client presentations. The work is collaborative and deadline-driven, requiring strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple overlapping tasks without sacrificing quality.
DLR Group is 100% employee-owned, meaning you'll have genuine stake in the firm's success. The Denver office operates on a four-day in-office model with Friday flexibility. Note that you must submit a current portfolio or work samples in PDF format to be considered.
