We’re excited to welcome a CAD Drafter to our Engineering team! Whether you’re just starting your drafting career or have years of experience, this role gives you the chance to work on concrete water tank projects, create accurate 2D AutoCAD drawings, and contribute to real-world projects. You’ll collaborate with engineers and experienced drafters in a supportive, team-focused environment where learning, growth, and hands-on experience are valued.
Pay: $24-32/hr (depending on experience) (~$50,000-$68,000 annually) + competitive benefits

What You’ll Do
- Prepare and update AutoCAD drawing packages with guidance or independently, depending on experience
- Revise drawings based on redlines and feedback
- Create drawings for tanks, foundations, piping, formwork, components, and accessories
- Produce scaled details, bid packages, and as-built drawings
- Convert hand sketches into accurate AutoCAD drawings
- Communicate clearly with engineers and fellow drafters to coordinate drawing updates
- Manage your workload effectively while supporting teammates and asking for guidance when needed
- Meet drawing submittal deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality
What We’re Looking For
Required:
- 1-10+ years drafting experience with AutoCAD
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- Strong attention to detail and organization
- Self-motivated, dependable, and eager to learn
- Team player comfortable collaborating and asking for guidance
Preferred:
- Prior construction or fabrication experience
- Working knowledge with Excel
- Pipe or rebar detailing experience

About this role
Preload's Engineering team is looking for a CAD Drafter to work on concrete water tank projects in their Louisville office. The role involves creating and revising 2D AutoCAD drawings for tanks, foundations, piping, formwork, and related components—converting hand sketches into accurate scaled details, bid packages, and as-built drawings. You'll coordinate with engineers and fellow drafters, manage submittal deadlines, and handle a range of drawing tasks from initial creation through revision based on feedback.
The position suits drafters at any stage, from those early in their career to those with a decade of experience. You'll need solid AutoCAD proficiency and strong attention to detail, along with the self-motivation and communication skills to work independently or ask for guidance as needed. Construction or fabrication background and experience with pipe or rebar detailing are valued but not required. The team emphasizes mentorship and learning, offering hands-on exposure to real projects in a collaborative environment with stable work.
