About this role
Echo Neurotechnologies is building brain-computer interface hardware to restore autonomy for people with disabilities, and they're looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to own the verification and testing strategy for their custom devices. You'd be responsible for developing test protocols, designing and implementing verification test systems, planning compliance testing for Class III medical devices, and analyzing the resulting data to inform hardware design decisions. This role bridges engineering rigor with real-world impact—your work directly influences how the company's devices are architected and validated.
The position requires at least seven years of hands-on experience with electromechanical hardware and a track record in medical device compliance testing. A background in electrical engineering is essential, and a master's degree is preferred. You'll need strong data analysis skills, familiarity with quality systems, and the ability to communicate technical findings clearly in reports and across teams. Occasional vendor site visits (under 10%) are part of the role.
This is an early-stage startup environment where your contributions carry outsized weight. You'd work closely with a small, motivated team and have real influence over product direction. The salary range is $160,000–$200,000, with stock options, comprehensive benefits, a 401(k) match, and the chance to work on technology with meaningful human impact. The role is based in San Francisco and requires in-office presence.
