About this role
CSG Consultants is hiring a Senior Building Inspector to lead inspection and code compliance work across residential, commercial, and industrial construction projects in the Sacramento area. You'll report to the Building Official and oversee a team of inspectors while handling the most complex or sensitive inspections yourself. The role involves extensive fieldwork—visiting construction sites in all weather, checking materials and methods against code, investigating violations, and conferring with contractors to resolve issues. You'll also provide plan-checking services for smaller projects and train inspectors on proper procedures and code interpretation.
This position requires at least five years as a Building Inspector II or equivalent, with ten years in the field preferred. You must hold an ICC Combination Building Inspector certification (Residential and Commercial), and additional ICC certifications as a Plans Examiner are preferred. A valid California Class C driver's license is required, as you'll travel frequently to job sites. The work is physically demanding—expect to stand, bend, climb, and occasionally lift up to 35 pounds while managing multiple tasks and tight deadlines.
CSG offers a competitive benefits package including company-subsidized medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) match, 15 days PTO plus 12 paid holidays, and professional development support. The salary range is $35,000–$50,000 annually, with exact compensation based on your experience and qualifications. This is a contract, full-time on-site role in Sacramento; candidates must already live in California, as relocation assistance is not provided.
