About this role

Machinify's Quality Validation Specialist role involves reviewing outpatient coding audits to ensure they meet accuracy, compliance, and regulatory standards. You'll evaluate audits across APCs, EAPCs, CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM coding; assess auditor performance against quality benchmarks; and provide coaching and feedback to drive consistency. The work also includes developing QA tools and scorecards, monitoring metrics, and collaborating with leadership on process improvements and continuous quality initiatives.

This position requires at least five years of hospital outpatient coding or validation auditing experience, current AHIMA or AAPC certification (RHIA, CCS, or CPC), and deep expertise in Medicare OPPS, APCs, and reimbursement methodologies. You'll need strong proficiency with encoder and auditing platforms like Optum, TrueBridge, or 3M, plus the ability to interpret LCD and NCD guidelines and validate complex claim types. An associate's or bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field is preferred.

The role is remote and volunteer-based, making it suited for someone with substantial outpatient coding credentials seeking to contribute expertise without traditional employment. Prior experience in quality assurance, auditor mentoring, or team leadership, along with familiarity with complex specialties like interventional radiology, oncology, or cardiac catheterization, would strengthen your candidacy.
