About this role

Oaklawn Animal Hospital, an AAHA-certified clinic in Cranston serving the community for over 50 years, is seeking a Veterinary Technician to join a family-oriented team committed to high-quality animal care. You'll support veterinarians across medical, surgical, and dental procedures—drawing blood, placing IV catheters, administering anesthesia, and monitoring patients during surgery and recovery. Beyond the operating room, you'll handle patient assessments, maintain medical records, prepare treatment areas, manage inventory, and communicate with clients about estimates and home care instructions.

This role requires prior leadership or management experience and prefers veterinary certification (CVT or LVT), though certification is not required if you have the right background. You should be comfortable with diagnostic work including radiographs, ECG, and blood pressure monitoring, and capable of providing emergency and critical care. The position pays $22–$28 per hour based on experience, with a sign-on bonus up to $4,000.

Oaklawn offers comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance; a 401(k) with company match; paid time off with flexible scheduling; continuing education support; and pet care discounts for your own animals. The hospital emphasizes a positive, collaborative atmosphere where staff are treated as family—a meaningful environment if you're drawn to both the clinical and interpersonal sides of veterinary medicine.
