About this role
O2 Engineering is hiring a Construction Inspector for a water infrastructure retrofit project spanning Ventura, Los Angeles, and San Diego counties. You'll spend your workdays on-site across Southern California inspecting water main replacements, new pipeline installations, meter retrofits, and related utility work. The role involves hands-on inspection of Ductile Iron pipe systems, hydrostatic pressure testing, hot tapping operations, and oversight of general contractors to ensure compliance with codes, construction documents, and client specifications.
The position requires solid fundamentals: you need to read and interpret construction drawings and permits, document your inspections daily using Microsoft Word with embedded photos, and troubleshoot water system issues as they arise. This is fieldwork for someone comfortable with technical inspection standards and comfortable communicating findings clearly on paper. The job is a full-time W2 position at $60–$70 per hour with standard benefits including health, vision, and dental coverage, 401(k), paid time off, and an employee assistance program. There is no per diem and no relocation package, so you should be based in or willing to commute within Southern California.
