About this role

North Star Resource Group is seeking a financial advisor for their Richmond office who is either early in their career or transitioning from a role that hasn't provided fulfillment. This is fundamentally a sales and client-relationship position within financial services, structured around building your own practice with guidance from an experienced mentor. You'll learn the business through a three-phase onboarding program designed to get you licensed (Series 7, 66, Life/Health) and operational, with the company covering exam sponsorship if needed.

The role suits someone entrepreneurial and self-directed who thrives on ownership and measurable results. You should have at least one year of post-graduate work experience, though formal financial credentials are not required upfront. The company emphasizes that successful advisors often come from sales, marketing, or leadership backgrounds and are driven by both financial success and a genuine desire to help clients. Compensation ranges from $40,000 to $120,000 in your first year, structured as base pay plus commission and bonuses tied directly to your performance.

This is a high-effort, high-reward path that demands urgency, resilience, and strong interpersonal skills. If you're looking for autonomy, direct mentorship from an industry expert, and the chance to build something of your own within an established firm, it's worth considering. The family-owned structure and emphasis on ethical decision-making suggest a stable environment, though success here depends heavily on your ability to generate business and sustain client relationships.
