About this role
Working in the field for KFM Engineering & Design, you'd operate survey equipment and collect precise measurements across boundary, topographic, construction staking, and utility projects throughout Texas. Reporting to a Survey Party Chief, your day-to-day work involves setting up GPS receivers and total stations, recording accurate field data, placing survey markers, and maintaining equipment—all while navigating outdoor terrain in varying weather. The role demands attention to detail, physical capability (lifting up to 50 pounds, walking uneven ground), and the ability to identify and flag discrepancies or safety issues before they become problems.
The position suits someone with at least a year of field survey experience, though entry-level candidates with construction or outdoor backgrounds are welcome. You'll need a valid driver's license, basic grasp of surveying principles, and willingness to learn equipment operation if you don't already have hands-on experience with GPS or total stations. Familiarity with Trimble, Leica, or Carlson equipment, data collectors, or OSHA 10 certification would strengthen your candidacy.
KFM offers 100% company-paid medical insurance, long and short-term disability coverage, a 401(k) with employer match, and generous PTO. The firm emphasizes career advancement and professional development within a larger network of established engineering and design firms across Texas, backed by over 80 years of combined experience.
