IHS Locum Tenens Primary Care Opportunity – Phoenix Arizona
Specialty: Board Certified FP or IM (will not take Board Eligible)
Client: Indian Health Service
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Dates coverage is needed: as soon as onboarding is complete – 3 months with option to extend
Schedule/Shifts Times: (1 hr lunch) or 4 – ten hour shifts – day off during the week will be determined once onboarding nears completion
Call Requirements: None
% inpatient / % outpatient: Outpatient only
Patient Volume: 12- 15 patients per day average
Patient Ages: adults only
Types of Cases: standard outpatient care, chronic illness treatment
Support Staff: yes (several Physicians, mid-levels, RN’s and specialty Physician support)
Procedures Required: None
Type of Charting: EMR - RPMS
Requirements: BLS, (through American Heart), DEA (fee paid, schedules 2-5)
Reason for Need: staff shortage
Credentialing Timeframe: 8-10 weeks on average
Additional Info: *** any State License ***; minimal gyn, only pap’s and pelvic exams for symptoms as needed. No suturing.

Transformational Health Network is recruiting a board-certified family medicine or internal medicine physician for a three-month locum tenens assignment with the Indian Health Service in Phoenix, Arizona. The role offers straightforward outpatient primary care with no call requirements, no procedures, and a manageable patient load of 12–15 adults daily focused on standard care and chronic disease management. You'll work either five eight-hour days or four ten-hour shifts with a weekday day off, supported by a team that includes other physicians, mid-levels, nurses, and specialty physician consultants.
The position requires current BLS certification, an active DEA license (with fees covered), and any state medical license; credentialing typically takes 8–10 weeks. This is a straightforward clinical opportunity suited to physicians seeking temporary, predictable work without the complexity of procedures, inpatient responsibilities, or extensive gynecological care. COVID vaccination is not required.
