About this role
MEMX is seeking a Software Engineer to develop and maintain the core trading platform that powers its US equities and options business. You'll participate in the full software development lifecycle—from design through production support—working on low-latency, high-throughput systems built primarily in Java. The role involves building new platform features, troubleshooting production issues alongside Market and Technical Operations, and contributing to a system that handles real-time market data and trading workflows at scale.
The ideal candidate has at least five years of server-side Java development in real-time, high-volume Linux environments, ideally with prior exposure to equities, options, or futures trading systems. Experience with event-sourcing patterns, FIX messaging, TCP/IP networking, or time-series databases is valued but not required. Beyond technical depth, MEMX emphasizes systems thinking and the ability to communicate effectively across internal and external teams—this is a collaborative role where problem-solving and customer focus matter as much as coding skill.
The position is based in-office in one of MEMX's seventeen US states (or elsewhere by exception), with a salary range of $150,000–$250,000. Benefits include flexible paid time off, comprehensive health coverage, 401(k), paid family leave, and professional development support.
