About Hiroki‑San

Hiroki‑San is an immersive, soulful Japanese dining experience located inside Detroit’s iconic and beautifully restored Book Tower. Rooted in tradition, technique, and a deep respect for Japanese culinary culture, Hiroki‑San blends the precision of classic Japanese cooking with a contemporary, design‑driven atmosphere.

The menu highlights the finest Japanese ingredients—many flown in weekly from Tokyo’s Toyosu Market—and showcases both traditional and modern preparations. The beverage program mirrors this dedication to craft, featuring cocktails built around single ingredients, curated sake pairings, and premium Japanese whiskies.

About this role

Method Co. is opening Hiroki San, a refined Japanese restaurant in Detroit's restored Book Tower, and they're looking for an experienced host to anchor the front-of-house operation. This role sits at the intersection of hospitality and precision—you'll manage the flow of a high-end dining experience where every detail matters, from greeting guests with genuine warmth to orchestrating seating in a design-driven space. The restaurant's commitment to sourcing premium ingredients weekly from Tokyo and crafting single-ingredient cocktails signals the caliber of service expected; your work directly supports that standard.

You'll need at least a year of upscale or high-volume hosting experience, strong communication skills, and the composure to handle a fast-paced environment while staying guest-focused. Familiarity with reservation platforms like Resy or OpenTable is valuable. The role demands flexibility with evenings, weekends, and holidays, and a genuine passion for hospitality—not just the mechanics of seating guests, but anticipating their needs and resolving issues gracefully.

Method Co. offers competitive hourly pay, health and dental benefits, sick time and vacation, and employee dining perks across their portfolio. There's also room for growth within a hospitality group known for culturally relevant, design-driven concepts. This is a position for someone who thrives in a polished, collaborative environment and takes pride in being the first impression of a thoughtfully crafted restaurant.
