About this role

LandDesign's Charlotte office is looking for a Senior Designer I to lead design and technical work across landscape architecture projects while mentoring junior designers. You'd own significant portions of project delivery—from master plans and construction documents through construction administration—working across CAD, civil engineering software, and design tools. The role balances hands-on execution with leadership: you'll prepare drawings and specifications, guide design concepts, conduct site analyses, and represent the firm in client and regulatory meetings, while training Designers I and II as the studio grows.

This position suits someone with a landscape architecture degree (or related field) who is pursuing or has earned professional licensure and brings solid technical proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Adobe Creative Suite, and modeling software. You'll need strong communication skills to advise clients and teams on next steps, collaborate across disciplines, and present project work confidently. The role expects you to take initiative on process improvement, stay current with construction methods and plant materials, and manage multiple projects of varying complexity.

Note that this is a volunteer position based in Charlotte and requires in-office work. The company offers benefits including wellness access, 401k, paid time off, parental leave, and health coverage, along with paid volunteer hours.
