About this role

Syska Hennessy Group is looking for a Fire Alarm Engineer II–IV to join their Richmond office and take on design and consulting work across commercial, industrial, institutional, and government facilities. You'll lead fire alarm system design from concept through commissioning, working across MEP disciplines to coordinate complex projects. The role blends technical depth—designing systems like VESDA and clean agent installations—with client-facing responsibilities, vendor coordination, and occasional travel to project sites.

This position suits someone with 2–7 years of fire alarm design experience who holds or is pursuing NICET certification and a PE in Fire Protection. You'll need strong command of NFPA standards, AutoCAD, and Revit, plus the ability to communicate designs clearly through drawings and specifications. Beyond design work, you'll manage CAD staff, contribute to proposals and business development, and participate in professional organizations.

The role offers a structured schedule—nine hours Monday through Thursday in-office, plus four remote hours on Fridays—along with comprehensive health coverage, 401(k) matching, professional development support, and PTO. Salary ranges from $63,719 to $115,651 depending on experience and qualifications. Federal security clearance eligibility is required.
