About this role

Ignite Digital is supporting a high-visibility Department of War acquisition modernization pilot that aims to transform how the government makes procurement decisions through data-driven insights. As a Senior Data Engineer, you would architect and build the data infrastructure underpinning this effort—aggregating acquisition lifecycle data across industrial base, logistics, programs, and supply chain domains, then modeling it to surface actionable intelligence for both tactical operators and strategic leaders. This is foundational work: your pipelines, data models, and governance frameworks will establish the technical foundation for enterprise-wide Snowflake deployments and broader digital transformation across the department.

The role demands 6+ years designing and scaling enterprise data solutions, with deep expertise in Python, SQL, ETL/ELT workflows, and API integration. You'll translate mission requirements into technical architecture, collaborate across cross-functional teams in an Agile environment, and ensure data structures are AI-ready and compliant with government standards. Experience with Snowflake, regulated cloud environments, and security documentation is valued; an active DOD Secret clearance is preferred but not required at hire.

This is a volunteer position based in Charleston, South Carolina, working hybrid (1–4 days onsite weekly), with salary starting at $115k+ based on experience. You'll need to obtain a DOD Secret clearance and be prepared for a government security investigation. The work sits at the intersection of modern data engineering and federal acquisition strategy—suited for someone who wants technical depth on a mission-critical government initiative.
