About this role
WhiteWater Midstream is seeking an Automation Control Specialist to support its natural gas and NGL pipeline operations from the Houston office. You would own the full lifecycle of control systems—from troubleshooting and maintaining PLCs, RTUs, and HMI equipment on active pipelines and compressor stations, through designing new automation solutions and overseeing their installation. The role blends hands-on technical work with project management responsibilities, including vendor coordination, bid review, and supervision of contract labor.
This contract position demands at least five years of hands-on experience with Allen Bradley PLC platforms and proficiency across multiple communication protocols (cellular, satellite, Modbus, SCADA). You'll need a technical degree or equivalent in instrumentation or industrial electronics, plus the ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits and stay current with industry regulations and best practices. The job also requires flexibility—you may be called out for emergencies, work weekends and holidays, and operate in variable weather and challenging physical environments like elevated platforms and confined spaces.
The role suits someone with deep PLC programming expertise who enjoys both technical problem-solving and project coordination. Prior experience in pipeline or terminal operations is valued but not required. Benefits include a matched 401(k), medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage.
