About the role:

As a Business Analyst on our modernization engagement, you will translate legacy JSF/Java-Bean applications into a modern React single-page application with Java APIs. You’ll perform bottom-up code analysis, extract and document business logic and workflows, and partner with both technical teams and clients to validate requirements, drive design decisions, and support test planning and execution.

This is a full-time position under AvePoint as your employer. The role will be client‑facing, working directly with one of AvePoint’s clients. It follows a full onsite work setup, requiring on‑site presence at the client’s office in BGC, Taguig, from Monday to Friday.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Requirements Elicitation & Reverse Engineering
    • Analyse JSF XHTML pages, Java Beans, and portlet configurations to uncover core business rules, and complex control flows.
    • Produce a detailed System Requirement Specification (SRS).
  • Design Considerations & Documentation
    • Document any functional deviations or optimizations (e.g., streamlined navigation, component decomposition) in a Design Specification.
  • Client Workshops & Reviews
    • Lead walkthrough sessions on high-complexity screens analysis.
    • Incorporate client feedback and ensure alignment before finalising requirement and design artifacts.
  • Test Suite Development & Execution
    • Author comprehensive System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) plans derived from the SRS.
    • Coordinate or perform test execution, log defects, and verify fixes in collaboration with development teams.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Partner with Java and React developers during debugging.
    • Act as the liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders to ensure clarity and alignment.

OK, I'm interested... is this the job for me?

We look for people who value agility, passion and teamwork; those who can bring fresh ideas to the table and want the opportunity to learn, grow, and expand their careers. Bring your aptitude and build upon what you do best for our customers, partners, team, and you.

Other qualities you will need to be a fit for this role include:

  • 1–3 years of Java development, & optional basic HTML understanding
  • Comfortable reading Java classes/methods and well-formed XHTML markup; familiar with AJAX-driven interactions and event-based (pub-sub) patterns in web UIs.
  • Ability to author clear Requirement Specifications and translate them into executable SIT/UAT test suites.
  • Strong workshop-facilitation skills with both technical teams and business users; excellent written and verbal communication to present complex logic succinctly.
  • Familiarity with React + TypeScript component patterns.
  • Understanding of RESTful services, API-gateway basics (e.g., IBM API Connect), and how front-ends invoke back-end endpoints.
  • Exposure to hosting static assets on AWS S3—enough to understand deployment artifacts and environments.
  • Amenable to work fully at the office, client site in BGC, Taguig.

AvePoint is proud to employ talent from many different backgrounds, experiences, and identities. We believe that diversity and inclusion drive our success and is at the core of how we hire, communicate, and collaborate to deliver value and excellence. About this role

AvePoint is modernizing legacy applications for a major client, and this Business Analyst role sits at the intersection of that technical transformation and client partnership. You'll spend your time reverse-engineering existing JSF/Java systems to extract business logic, then translating those findings into clear requirements and test plans that guide the build of a new React-based platform. The work is hands-on and analytical—reading code, documenting workflows, running workshops with stakeholders, and collaborating with developers to validate that the new system captures what the old one did, only better.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of Java development experience and enough familiarity with web technologies (XHTML, AJAX, REST APIs, React/TypeScript) to move fluidly between legacy and modern stacks. Beyond technical chops, you need strong communication skills: the role requires you to facilitate workshops, author clear specifications, and act as a bridge between technical teams and business users who may speak very different languages. If you're comfortable with ambiguity, enjoy untangling complex systems, and can translate that understanding into documentation others can act on, this could be a good fit.

This is a full-time, fully on-site position at the client's office in BGC, Taguig, Monday through Friday. You'll be embedded with the client team rather than working from AvePoint's office, which means direct visibility into how your analysis and recommendations land in real time.
