Description

Who we are

Atoms is building the machines that power the next era of progress.

Over the last decade, software has transformed the digital world. But the physical world, where food is made, minerals are mined, goods are moved, and industries are run, remains far less intelligent, far less efficient, and far more constrained. We’re changing that.

Atoms builds Physical AI— real-world robots for the industries that move civilization forward, starting with food, mining, and transport. Our systems are designed to understand, predict, and control the real world with precision, turning complex physical operations into something more reliable, more scalable, and more productive.

This work requires more than robotics. It requires deep integration across hardware, software, AI, operations, manufacturing, and real estate. We don’t just build machines in a lab. We deploy them into real environments, operate them, learn from them, and improve them until they work at scale.

We are roboticists, engineers, operators, and builders. We believe the next great technology companies will not only transform information, but the physical systems that shape everyday life.

If you want to work on hard problems with real-world impact, join us.

What you’ll do

  • Work on a data intelligence infrastructure team, which is focused on gaining intelligence from the mass amount of data that has been collected over the years serving restaurants across the world.
  • Build and maintain software and tools that enable data scientists, ML engineers, analysts and engineers to extract insights, sell market intelligence to merchants and make data driven decisions for the company
  • Help product teams to build real-time and batch processing pipelines to achieve business requirements
  • Research latest technologies in the open source communities and bring back insights to apply within the team

What we’re looking for

  • 3+ years of experience as a software engineer, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, taking initiative to drive results.
  • Background in infrastructure or platform development is preferred.
  • Enthusiastic about learning new codebases, and making changes in large complex systems safely and efficiently.
  • Proficiency in Java or GoLang programming languages. We’re looking for engineers who are comfortable with either language and have experience building high-performance systems.
  • Familiarity with Azure and GCP cloud environments, and deployment tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience in real estate, food technology, or related industries is a bonus, though not required. A passion for solving complex problems in these sectors is key.

Why join us

At Atoms, you’ll work on one of the defining challenges of our time—bringing automation into the physical world to drive real, lasting impact. We exist to uncover valuable unknown truths and turn them into progress, which means constantly pushing beyond what’s known and building what doesn’t yet exist. The work is ambitious and often challenging, but it’s grounded in a shared sense of purpose and a team committed to seeing it through together. Our work only matters if it serves others, and we know that meaningful progress depends on the trust of the people we serve and the strength of our team—so we invest in both, creating an environment where you can do your best work and grow.

About this role

Atoms is deploying robots into real-world operations across food, mining, and transport—and they need a Senior Software Engineer to build the data infrastructure that makes it all work. You'd join a team focused on extracting intelligence from years of operational data collected across restaurants and other facilities worldwide, creating the pipelines and tools that let data scientists, ML engineers, and product teams make decisions at scale. This means designing real-time and batch processing systems, maintaining the software that powers insights, and researching emerging technologies to keep the infrastructure competitive.

The role requires at least three years as a software engineer with a track record of working independently in fast-moving environments. You should be proficient in Java or GoLang, comfortable with Azure and GCP cloud platforms, and experienced with Docker and Kubernetes. A background in infrastructure or platform development is preferred, and you'll need the ability to navigate and safely modify large, complex systems. Experience in food technology or real estate is a bonus but not required.

This is a full-time, in-office position in Austin with a base salary of $158,000 to $210,000, plus equity and performance bonuses. The company offers standard benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and paid time off, and expects all office-based teams to work onsite five days a week.
