About this role

Parametrix is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer to anchor and grow its traffic engineering practice across the Southwest region from a base in Albuquerque, New Mexico. You'll take on a dual role combining hands-on technical leadership with business development—managing complex projects for state DOTs and municipalities while mentoring junior staff and identifying new client opportunities. The work spans traffic operations, signal design, roadway lighting, and safety-focused initiatives like Vision Zero and Complete Streets, drawing on tools such as Synchro and VISSIM for analysis and design.

This position requires a PE license in at least one of Utah, Nevada, or New Mexico (with ability to reciprocate in others), a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field, and a minimum of 10 years of progressive traffic engineering experience. PTOE certification is preferred. You'll represent Parametrix in client meetings, public forums, and proposal efforts, so strong communication and relationship-building skills matter as much as technical depth.

Parametrix is 100% employee-owned, which means you'll earn stock through an ESOP and share in company performance through bonuses. The package includes comprehensive healthcare, 401(k), paid time off, and flexible work arrangements. The salary range is $135,000–$165,000, adjusted for experience and qualifications. The role is in-office in Albuquerque but involves collaboration across the four-state region.
