About this role
Working overnight shifts at Vermont's only 24/7 specialty and emergency hospital means you'd be part of a team handling critical cases around the clock. This hybrid ER/ICU role requires you to move fluidly between the fast-paced emergency floor and dedicated ICU nursing, performing everything from triage and phlebotomy to advanced procedures like CPR, sedation monitoring, and anesthesia support for emergency surgeries. You'd also manage patient admissions and discharges, handle financial discussions with clients, and maintain detailed medical records—all while delivering compassionate care in a high-acuity environment.
The position calls for at least two years of veterinary hospital experience, with emergency background preferred. Veterinary Technician Certification or licensure is preferred but not required, and the role is structured around three 12-hour overnight shifts per week. Compensation ranges from $22–$28 per hour for unlicensed technicians or $26–$32 for licensed CVTs/LVTs, plus shift differentials for overnight and weekend work.
Beyond base pay, BEVS offers solid benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage; a 401(k) with company match; paid time off and bonding leave; continuing education allowance; and discounts on veterinary services for your own pets. This is a role suited to someone who thrives in urgent, collaborative settings and wants genuine learning opportunities in emergency and critical care medicine.
