About this role
Working in Vermont's only 24/7 specialty and emergency animal hospital means joining a team that handles the full spectrum of critical cases. This hybrid ER/ICU role at Burlington Emergency & Veterinary Specialists puts you on both the fast-paced emergency floor and in the dedicated ICU unit, performing everything from triage and phlebotomy to advanced procedures like CPR, anesthesia monitoring, and CRI administration. You'll be responsible for patient care across admission through discharge, client communication about treatment costs, and maintaining detailed medical records in a high-acuity environment where no two days are the same.
The position requires at least two years of veterinary hospital experience, with emergency background preferred, though CVT or LVT certification is preferred rather than mandatory. The role suits both seasoned technicians looking for a new challenge and those genuinely committed to growing within emergency and critical care. BEVS emphasizes a collaborative culture and provides concrete support: continuing education allowance, license fee reimbursement, 401(k) matching after six months, and generous paid time off including company-paid bonding leave. The base salary ranges from $26 to $32 per hour depending on experience and licensure, with overnight shift differentials available.
