How we're different

We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.

The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.

About this role

Anthropic's Security organization is building defenses for novel, high-stakes AI systems, and they're looking for a Technical Recruiter who can speak credibly with the specialists they need to hire. You'd own full lifecycle recruiting across their security portfolio—platform and application security, detection and response, identity, compliance, and physical security—meaning you'd run intakes with hiring managers, build pipelines of passive candidates, and refine interview processes alongside your recruiting peers. This isn't template recruiting; security talent is heavily pursued, and success here depends on genuine domain fluency rather than keyword matching.

The role demands deep full lifecycle recruiting experience in technical or security-focused organizations, paired with the ability to hold substantive conversations about application security, cloud infrastructure, detection engineering, identity, or compliance. You'd need to evaluate technical qualifications independently, calibrate interview bars with hiring managers, and advise on market data and candidate fit with real credibility. You should also be comfortable handling confidential information and structuring offers across compensation, people operations, and mobility.

The position is based in San Francisco with an expectation of in-office presence at least 25% of the time. Salary ranges from $240,000 to $295,000. Experience recruiting at high-growth tech or AI companies, familiarity with security credentials and their signal value, and comfort using LLMs for sourcing and research are valued but not required. Anthropic sponsors visas and encourages applications even if you don't check every box.
