About this role

CPI Security is hiring a Residential Installation Technician in Charleston to install home security systems in customers' homes, working from their local office. You'll handle the full installation process—reading wiring diagrams, setting up equipment according to specifications, testing systems, and training customers on how to use them. The role also involves customer service elements like discussing additional products, processing payments, and completing paperwork, plus supporting newer technicians as you gain experience.

The position suits someone with a high school diploma and ideally some background in construction, cable work, or low voltage systems, though that experience isn't strictly required. You'll need strong attention to detail, the ability to follow technical instructions carefully, solid customer service skills, and a professional demeanor. Safety-consciousness and product knowledge matter here—you're representing the company and need to understand features and pricing to discuss options with homeowners.

Compensation ranges from $45,000 to $60,000 annually, structured as hourly pay during training plus uncapped commission on installations. CPI provides a company vehicle, fuel card, phone and tablet, comprehensive initial training with ongoing development, and a full benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match, disability coverage, paid holidays, and PTO. After 90 days, you receive a free monitored security system.
