Description

About the Role

Together AI is looking for a Commercial Counsel to support the deals that drive our growth. You’ll work alongside the Sales, Partnerships, Finance, Product, and Security teams as the legal partner who helps each of them move quickly while keeping risk in view.

What we sell sits at the core of our customers’ own products, so our commercial deals call for a real understanding of how the technology works. The terms we agree to with customers and partners shape our relationships and our business for years. This role suits a lawyer who wants to be a true business partner to a fast-moving sales organization, rather than working within a narrow contracts lane.

Responsibilities

Sales

  • Serve as the legal point of contact for Sales across enterprise customer deals, managing commercial agreements including master agreements, order forms, data processing terms, security exhibits, and NDAs.
  • Negotiate customer contracts end to end, partnering closely with Sales, Security, Product, and Finance to resolve issues quickly and keep deals moving through the pipeline.
  • Advise Sales on risk, contract positions, and fallback terms, and manage escalations on non-standard requests such as custom SLAs, data protection obligations, and liability and indemnity terms.
  • Build the templates, playbooks, and scalable workflows that make Sales deals repeatable, including standard forms, negotiation playbooks, and clear escalation paths.

Partnerships

  • Structure and negotiate go-to-market and partnership deals, including collaboration, reseller, licensing, and co-sell arrangements.
  • Work with Sales, Partnerships, and Product to align partner terms with business goals, customer commitments, and company risk posture.
  • Develop standard partnership templates and default negotiating positions so routine partner deals can move quickly and consistently.

Requirements

  • A JD and an active bar license in good standing
  • At least 5 years in commercial and technology transactions, including substantial in-house time at an infrastructure company
  • Experience supporting deals for purchasing compute and critical infrastructure, partner and strategic alliances agreements, and enterprise commercial deals
  • A working command of data privacy (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA) and regulatory (EU AI Act, EU Data Act, DORA) regimes and security terms (data processing agreements, security addenda)
  • Familiarity with export controls and the regulatory requirements that apply to partners and counterparties, such as the FCPA and other anti-bribery and anti-corruption regimes
  • A plain-spoken style that makes legal and technical points accessible to non-lawyers
  • Comfort working independently in a small, fast-moving legal team, with sound instincts for what to own, what to escalate, and when to bring in specialized outside counsel
  • Desire for learning and building with AI tools so you can operate self-sufficiently and at speed

About this role

Together AI is building infrastructure for AI at scale, and this role sits at the intersection of two critical legal functions: securing the compute capacity and vendor relationships that power the platform, and closing the commercial deals that drive revenue. You'd be the legal partner for Infrastructure, Sales, Finance, Security, and Procurement — negotiating GPU and cloud agreements with multiple suppliers, managing enterprise customer contracts, and building the templates and workflows that let each team operate at speed as the business grows. The infrastructure side demands real technical literacy: you'll need to understand how capacity commitments, service levels, and vendor flexibility flow into customer obligations, and you'll handle export controls and trade compliance as they apply to hardware and compute deals.

This is a role for a lawyer who can operate across multiple deal types rather than specializing narrowly in one. You'll need at least five years in commercial and technology transactions, with substantial in-house experience at an infrastructure company. Data privacy regimes (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA), emerging AI and data regulation (EU AI Act, DORA), export controls, and security terms should be familiar territory. The job calls for someone who can translate legal and technical concepts for non-lawyers, work independently in a small legal team, and know when to escalate or bring in outside counsel.

The role is based in San Francisco and requires in-office work. Together AI offers a base salary of $200–230K plus equity and benefits, with compensation adjusted for experience and skills.
