  • Build highly available, fault-tolerant customer-facing applications using service-based architectures and lead the migration from monolithic applications to modern service stacks, including decomposition efforts.
  • Review code and provide consistent, high-quality feedback to maintain strong engineering standards.
  • Develop, mentor, and coach team members while fostering a positive work environment.
  • Lead the practical adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices, including responsible use of coding assistants, developer productivity tools, and customer-facing AI-enabled features.
  • Lead and manage the technical execution of multiple complex software development projects.

  • Manage stakeholder relationships across the business group and broader organization.
  • Perform risk and dependency management across the engineering organization.
  • Oversee resource planning activities, align work with organizational strategy, and integrate efforts across teams as needed.
  • Ensure delivery of software within quality standards by facilitating and maintaining a clear definition of done (DoD) for Agile stories.
  • Measure business value delivered by teams, including features committed versus released and user stories completed, and analyze productivity through bug-to-feature ratios.
  • Assess delivery efficiency using lead time (idea to deployment) and cycle time (development to deployment) metrics.
  • Evaluate backlog health by analyzing backlog size, aging items, and prioritization effectiveness.
  • Monitor delivery quality through defect density, code review feedback, and test coverage metrics.
  • Assess sprint performance using completion rates, goal achievement, velocity, and improvement actions to close gaps.
  • Analyze code metrics, including commit volume, pull request activity, and code complexity.

Qualifications

  • 7- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years leading diverse, global engineering teams
  • Strong technical background building customer-facing, mission-critical web applications using C#, ASP.NET Core, MVC, Entity Framework Core, React, JavaScript and TypeScript, or comparable technologies
  • Experience designing scalable, secure, high-performance enterprise solutions using Microsoft technologies, SQL Server, Azure Cosmos DB, NoSQL platforms, and modern API security practices
  • Extensive experience with AI coding assistants (Copilot, Claude Desktop, Cursor, etc.) and customer facing applications using Azure Foundry, MCP, or OpenAI APIs
  • Deep understanding of cloud-native architecture and Azure services, including App Services, Azure Functions, AKS, Azure DevOps, CI/CD automation, Service Bus, Event Grid
  • Experience applying modern architecture and engineering practices, including SOLID principles, clean architecture, domain-driven design, microservices, code quality, performance optimization, and secure development
  • Proven ability to mentor engineers, conduct effective code reviews, foster a high-performance engineering culture, and drive continuous improvement through Agile delivery practices and metrics
  • Strong product mindset with the ability to shape requirements, influence roadmap decisions, manage competing priorities, and oversee multiple complex projects simultaneously

About this role

At iCapital, you'd manage two pods of 7–12 C# and React engineers across North America and India, owning the full software delivery lifecycle for the Annuities Platform's sales workflow—from quoting and insurance applications through e-signature and submission. This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you'll drive the migration from monolithic to service-oriented architecture, champion AI-assisted development practices, and maintain the high availability and quality standards that top US life insurance carriers depend on.

The position demands 7–10+ years in software engineering with at least 5 years leading distributed teams. You'll need deep expertise in C#, ASP.NET Core, React, and Azure cloud services, along with proven experience designing scalable enterprise solutions and modernizing legacy platforms. Beyond technical chops, you'll mentor engineers, conduct rigorous code reviews, shape product requirements, and manage complex stakeholder relationships while measuring team performance through delivery metrics, code quality, and sprint health.

This role suits someone who combines strong technical judgment with genuine interest in team development and process improvement. The work is based in Salt Lake City with in-office expectations Monday–Thursday, and iCapital offers equity, performance bonuses, matched retirement, and comprehensive healthcare coverage. Prior experience in insurance, FinTech, or large-scale integrations is valued but not required.
