Description
Each of us cares about someone who will need medicines. That’s why our vision is to repeatedly beat the odds to deliver breakthrough medicines to patients that need them. We pursue truth and scientific rigour and have the courage to work at the edge of the unknown.
We're looking for a natural coach and sharp thinker who wants to do People & Culture work differently. As a People Partner at AbCellera, you'll build deep relationships with the teams you support, bring intellectual curiosity to every challenge, and help create an environment where exceptional people can thrive. If you're energized by complexity, love getting to the heart of a problem, and believe great coaching changes everything, we'd love to meet you.
How you might spend your days
- Building meaningful relationships with the teams you support, sought out as a trusted thought partner and coach on everything from team engagement and development to performance and role progression
- Coaching and consulting with managers and AbCellerites to unlock potential, accelerate growth, and help people do the best work of their careers - whether that means thinking through a big opportunity, navigating a tricky situation, or being a sounding board
- Partnering closely with the teams you support to understand what's really working and what isn't, surfacing root causes not just symptoms, and co-developing thoughtful, evidence-based solutions
- Coaching managers through performance conversations, compensation decisions, and the day-to-day judgment calls that come with leading people well
- Supporting and delivering company-wide initiatives like Perks & Pay reviews, learning journals, engagement surveys, and guideline/policy rollouts - bringing rigour and creativity to how they land
- Playing an active role in recruiting for your teams, bringing your deep knowledge of the people and work to help identify, attract, and assess candidates who will thrive at AbCellera
- Keeping our people data accurate and up to date in Bamboo - processing changes to roles, teams, and reporting structures, and ensuring the right information is always reflected across AbCellera
- Bringing the voice of your teams back to P&C: sharing patterns, observations, and honest feedback so we can continuously improve how we show up, communicate, and support AbCellerites
We'd love to hear from you if
- You're a natural coach - you have a gift for asking the questions that reframe, unstick, and mobilize
- You're energized by hard problems and bring the kind of thinking that makes a meaningful difference in finding a way forward
- You have meaningful experience working closely with people and teams - this could come from coaching, organizational development, psychology, a people-facing role in science or tech, or something else entirely that's given you genuine depth in understanding how people and organizations work. We're open to a range of experience: 5+ years for those earlier in their People Partner journey, and 8-10+ years for those who've been doing this for a while and are ready to bring that depth to a senior version of this role
- You're someone who can engage authentically with our science and the people doing it; an undergraduate degree in biology is an asset
- You're organized, resilient, and able to manage competing priorities without losing attention to detail or quality
- You communicate with care and precision - tactful when it matters, direct when it counts
- You're curious about drug development and want to understand our science and teams deeply enough to be a true strategic partner

AbCellera’s hiring range for the People Partner role is CAD $80,000 - $100,000 annually and the range for the Senior People Partner role is CAD $97,600 - $122,000 annually, commensurate with your education and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. About AbCellera
Creating medicines is the most important work we can do.
We are a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on discovering and developing antibody-based medicines in the areas of endocrinology, women’s health, immunology, and oncology. We have built a platform for advancing antibody drug programs from target to clinic, and we are using it to build our internal pipeline.
Today, our pipeline includes two drug candidates in clinical development, two preclinical development candidates (DCs) in Investigational New Drug (IND)-enabling activities, and more than 20 active discovery programs across multiple modalities and indications.
We believe that when tenacious people share a vision and work together, they can truly have a positive impact. That’s why we hire for character and intelligence, not just for CVs or experience.
We look for people with drive and energy. People we trust. People who need to know their days are being well spent. That their work really matters. In the end, our success will be measured by the impact of our medicines.

About this role
AbCellera is seeking a People Partner (or Senior People Partner for those with deeper experience) to serve as a trusted coach and strategic advisor to teams across their clinical-stage biotech organization. The role centers on building genuine relationships with the people you support—coaching managers through performance and compensation decisions, helping individual contributors navigate growth opportunities, and surfacing the root causes behind team challenges rather than just addressing symptoms. You'll also own the operational side of people work: managing company-wide initiatives like compensation reviews and policy rollouts, maintaining accurate people data, and playing an active recruiting role for your teams.
This position suits someone with a natural coaching instinct and intellectual curiosity about how people and organizations actually work. You'll need 5+ years of relevant experience (8-10+ for the senior track), which could come from organizational development, psychology, coaching, or people-facing roles in science or tech—AbCellera is open to non-traditional backgrounds. An undergraduate degree in biology is valued but not required; what matters more is genuine interest in understanding drug development and the science your teams are doing, so you can be a true strategic partner rather than just an HR administrator.
The role is full-time and in-office in Vancouver. Compensation ranges from CAD $80,000–$100,000 for the People Partner level to CAD $97,600–$122,000 for Senior, plus equity, performance bonus, 6% RRSP contribution, an annual lifestyle allowance, and comprehensive benefits.
