About this role
The Core Platform team at Reddit operates the infrastructure behind hundreds of millions of daily interactions—handling the API requests that power listings, posts, comments, and media across the platform. As a Senior Software Engineer on this team, you'd own both technical depth and leadership responsibility, designing scalable solutions while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating across the organization to shape the platform's roadmap. This role demands expertise in building and operating mission-critical distributed systems at massive scale, with the work directly affecting how hundreds of millions of users experience Reddit globally.
You'll need 5+ years of hands-on experience with large-scale, distributed systems, solid proficiency in Golang or Python, and a track record of writing clean, maintainable code. Media delivery expertise—from backend optimization through the full stack to user-facing performance—is essential. Strong communication skills matter here; you'll discuss complex technical topics with both engineers and non-technical stakeholders, and partner effectively across teams. The role is based in New York and requires in-office work, with a base salary range of $190,800 to $267,100, plus equity and comprehensive benefits including healthcare, 401(k) matching, flexible time off, and parental leave.
