About this role

At 84.51°, you'd lead the Agentic Foundations team—a group building the technical backbone for AI agents across the Kroger enterprise. This director role sits at the intersection of software engineering and AI, requiring you to own platform design, developer tooling, and the infrastructure that enables teams to build, deploy, and monitor agents at scale. You'd partner closely with product leadership to define the technical direction, manage both onshore and offshore engineering teams, and make high-stakes decisions around reliability, scalability, and feature prioritization without needing escalation.

The position demands deep expertise across multiple domains: seven-plus years architecting cloud systems, equal experience with production ML/AI systems (including two-plus years in GenAI), and hands-on knowledge of the full agentic development lifecycle—from design and evaluation to deployment and monitoring. You'll need to be fluent in the modern AI stack (PyTorch, LangChain, autogen, MLflow) and cloud platforms like Azure and Google Cloud, with particular strength in Kubernetes, Terraform, and Python. Equally important is your ability to lead senior engineers, translate complex technical concepts for stakeholders, and navigate ambiguous problems in a fast-moving space.

This is a full-time, in-office role in Cincinnati with a salary range of $162,000–$262,000, plus variable compensation and standard benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, and HSA matching.
