About this role
Muon Space is building satellite constellations for Earth intelligence and needs a senior engineer to architect and operate the software testing infrastructure that validates these systems before launch. You'd own the design and implementation of both hardware testbeds and simulation-driven testing environments, working across engineering teams to establish best practices that directly impact mission success and time-to-orbit. This is a leadership role where you'll mentor other test and simulation engineers while driving continuous improvement to testing tools and procedures based on feedback from client teams.
The position demands 8+ years of software engineering experience with strong Python skills, solid Linux and Docker fundamentals, and hands-on familiarity with CI/CD pipelines. Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop testing, embedded systems, or aerospace projects is valuable; so is knowledge of C/C++, statistical analysis, or cloud orchestration tools like Kubernetes. You'll need to break down complex technical problems into clear proposals, estimate reliably, and communicate effectively across departments. ITAR compliance is required, which restricts eligibility to U.S. citizens, green card holders, or those able to obtain export authorization.
The role is remote but based at Muon's San Jose office, with compensation of $213,000–$237,000 plus equity and a full benefits package including three weeks vacation, unlimited sick time, and parental leave.
