About the Team:
The Development Fleet Operations team is responsible for the safe testing and operation of the newest technologies. As an Operations Specialist you will contribute to the daily driving and testing of autonomous trucks, own the safety of the operation, and provide feedback on system performance and behaviors while hauling commercial freight.
Responsibilities:
- Safely operate autonomous trucks on the public roads to support development testing and commercial pilot operations.
- Haul commercial freight between customer locations and/or meet points.
- Provide feedback on system performance to advance self-driving technology.
- Utilize internal tools on a smartphone/tablet to track work assigned and completed.
- Uphold industry-leading safety standards, remaining compliant with internal benchmarks.
- Remain alert and attentive while operating during extended stretches of autonomy.
Schedule:
- 9/3 rotation: Work 9 days, then enjoy 3 full days of reset at home.
- Compensation: $32.00 – $37.00/hr + Annual Bonus + Long Term Incentive

Qualifications & Safety Standards:
- Experience: 7+ years of Class A driving experience
- License: Valid Class A CDL (Airbrake Endorsement) and current DOT Medical Certificate
- Zero-Tolerance Safety Record: We require a strictly clean MVR. You must have no history of:
- Reckless Driving, Leaving the scene of an accident, or License suspensions/revocations
- No Moving Violations within the last 7 years, including: Speeding, running red lights/stop signs, failure to yield, tailgating, improper turns/lane changes, distracted driving, seat belt violations, or unlawful passing (school buses/railroad crossings)
- Testing: Must pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and sleep apnea screening

About this role
Stack AV is testing autonomous trucking technology on public roads, and this role puts you in the driver's seat during that development work. You'll operate autonomous trucks hauling real commercial freight between customer locations, monitoring system performance and providing feedback that directly shapes the technology. The job demands your full attention during extended periods of autonomy and your commitment to safety—you'll be responsible for upholding Stack's internal benchmarks while complying with all DOT regulations.
The role requires seven or more years of Class A CDL experience and an impeccable driving record with no moving violations in the past seven years, no reckless driving history, and no license suspensions. You'll need a valid Class A CDL with airbrake endorsement and current DOT medical certification, plus you'll pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and a sleep apnea screening.
Compensation runs $32–$37 per hour plus annual bonus and long-term incentive, with Stack covering 100% of medical, dental, and vision premiums for you and your family. The schedule follows a 9/3 rotation: nine days on, three days off at home. You'll also get open PTO, 14 paid holidays, a 401(k) with company match, and no freight loading or unloading duties. This is an in-office, full-time position based in Phoenix.
